Russian forces launched overnight drone attacks on Ukraine, targeting port and transport infrastructure and causing casualties.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, since 6 p.m. on April 21, Russia has attacked Ukraine with 215 strike drones from seven directions, around 140 of them being Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data as of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, air defenses had shot down or suppressed 189 drones across the north, south, and east of the country.

Another 24 strike drones hit targets at 13 locations, while debris fell at six locations.

The Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions were all affected.

Russian forces struck railway infrastructure in the Zaporizhzhia region overnight. According to the head of the regional military administration (OVA), Ivan Fedorov, one person was killed and another injured in the attack.

In the Sumy region, Russian drones carried out a massive overnight strike on a village in the Yampil community, hitting residential buildings and sparking fires.

The body of a deceased civilian was later found in one of the houses, with identification still underway.

“The enemy once again massively attacked the Odesa region with strike drones. Port infrastructure was targeted,” said Odesa OVA head Oleh Kiper.
