Large-scale military exercises, titled Amber Shock 26, have commenced at the training ground in Orzysz, Poland, RMF24 reported.

The maneuvers involve more than 3,500 personnel from NATO member states, including significant contributions from the US Army.

The primary objective of the exercises is to practice the movement of troops and enhance coordination between allied units within a multinational environment. Participating units include the US Army’s 2nd Cavalry Regiment alongside Polish forces and other NATO allies.

The training scenarios will culminate on Friday with live-fire drills using combat ammunition.

This exercise follows the major strategic Kraj maneuvers conducted in Poland this April, which focused on state-wide responses to potential warfare. Such activities coincide with a broader trend across Europe to bolster defense capabilities.

For instance, Germany is currently considering raising the age limit for reservists to 70 and has increased its 2026 defense budget to €108 billion. Similarly, France is in the process of creating a third military division focused on territorial defense and infrastructure protection.

These regional preparations are gaining importance as the US considers a strategic reallocation of its forces.

While the Pentagon is weighing the withdrawal of approximately 5,000 service members from Germany, NATO officials maintain confidence in the Alliance’s collective deterrence and defense posture.
