President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to help advance efforts to launch negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.
According to an ICL Notícias report, Zelensky wanted Lula to engage directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to support the peace process.

Zelensky reportedly asked Lula to persuade Putin to take part in direct peace talks and ultimately agree to a meeting with Ukraine’s leader alongside international mediators.
Brazilian officials, however, believe the request reflects Kyiv’s limited ability to open direct dialogue channels with Moscow, the outlet noted.
ICL Notícias also recalled that Ukraine made a similar appeal last year. Brazil’s Foreign Ministry at the time said it had passed the message to Putin, though no progress followed.
The report comes as polling by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology suggests more than 60% of Ukrainians would support ending the fighting along the current front line if Ukraine receives security guarantees from partners.
The same sentiment, according to Zelensky, is also present in Russian society.
Speaking at the Reuters Next summit on Tuesday, Zelensky said more than 60% of Russians want the war to end, arguing that mounting losses and the lack of battlefield gains are shifting public sentiment inside Russia.
