According to Vadym Liakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, the city was struck by three FAB-250 guided aerial bombs at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time. The heavy munitions caused widespread destruction in the densely populated area.
“Three people were injured and provided with outpatient medical care,” Liakh reported on social media. “Unfortunately, a 67-year-old man died. His body was pulled from the rubble of his own home.”
The kinetic impact of the heavy bombs damaged at least 15 private residences, four multi-story apartment buildings, an administrative facility, and four vehicles.
Assault on Kharkiv and Izium
The northeastern Kharkiv region has faced relentless, separate attacks throughout the day, targeting both the regional capital and surrounding cities.
In the city of Izium, a Russian strike hit a residential area, directly damaging a multi-story building. Oleh Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that four people were injured in the attack. Emergency services were immediately deployed to the scene to provide medical assistance and secure the damaged structure.
Russian Drone Strikes Injure Five Across Kherson and Chernihiv Regions
Meanwhile, the city of Kharkiv was targeted in multiple districts. Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that Russian forces struck a gas station in the Shevchenkivskyi district, resulting in casualties, though the exact number of injured from this specific blast is still being verified.
This followed an earlier morning drone assault on the city’s Nemyshlianskyi district. Russian troops deployed an “Italmas” uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) to strike a civilian enterprise. Mayor Terekhov confirmed that the number of injured in that attack rose to seven as emergency personnel cleared the area. Synehubov added that the strike partially destroyed a warehouse facility and damaged seven vehicles parked on the premises.
Broader nationwide barrage
The intense bombardment of eastern Ukraine was part of a broader, nationwide campaign of Saturday strikes that also inflicted civilian casualties in the country’s south.
Concurrent to the attacks in the east, the southern port city of Odesa suffered a deadly ballistic missile strike. Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, reported that a high-speed projectile struck a civilian infrastructure facility in the city, killing two people and inflicting shrapnel wounds on a 24-year-old man.
Earlier in the day, Russian drone strikes also targeted the Korabelnyi district of Kherson, where four people were injured, underscoring the widespread and persistent threat to civilian areas across Ukraine.
