Russian armed forces struck Zaporizhzhia, killing three people and injuring two others, including one child.

The preliminary report states that the strikes hit the regional center during the day, though the number of casualties is still being clarified. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS), necessary assistance is currently being provided to those injured.

Psychologists are also reportedly assisting 16 residents, including four children.

Damage to residential areas

One of the strikes damaged a two-story private residence, which caught fire as well. The blast wave from the same strike also damaged neighboring buildings in the area, according to DSNS. Other strike locations saw fires break out in open areas, though the total number of sites affected has not been specified.

All emergency services in the city have been deployed to the affected sites.

Zaporizhzhia region continues to face near-daily barrage. The United Nations’ (UN) Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine recorded 293 civilians killed and 1,990 injured in Ukraine in June 2026, marking it the highest monthly toll since April 2022.

According to the same report, Zaporizhzhia saw 23 people killed and 229 injured in June, while Kherson recorded 18 killed and 236 injured, and Dnipro reported 25 killed and 77 injured. These three regions stood well above the rest of the country, reflecting their sustained exposure to shelling, drone strikes and aerial bombardment near the contact line.
