NATO meets on July 11 and 12 and will decide whether to give Ukraine a clear commitment to membership in future. To refuse to do so is unconscionable, given Ukraine’s sacrifices. It will also prolong the war.

Below is a powerful and scathing meme posted by a Ukrainian after Russia’s 2022 invasion. The photo shows Hollywood director Mel Gibson, on the sidelines while filming his 2004 movie The Passion of Christ, while he explains the script to the actor portraying Jesus during the Crucifixion. This is the Ukrainian’s caption:

NATO explains why it cannot create a no-fly zone

NATO must pledge membership to Ukraine this week, and must provide a no-fly zone and airforce. Now.

Doesn’t appear that either of those things happened as they’re just not remotely realistic.

At least we got some funky new memes of the meeting though.
