A fake has appeared on Russian social media that purports that Ukraine will pass a law that bans taking images of Ukrainian cemeteries, according to StopFake, a fact-checker NGO.

The fake features a manufactured screenshot that uses the brand of UkrInform, Ukraine’s national news agency, and a fraudulent headline that states: ‘In Parliament, it is proposed to ban photos and videos at Ukraine’s cemeteries.’

The fake appears aimed at suggesting that Ukrainian authorities are somehow seeking to cover up war casualties from the general public.

StopFake carried out a search on the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) website and found that there are is no proposed legislation with regard to banning photos or videos at Ukraine’s cemeteries.

It is estimated by the Ukrainian military that Russian casualties over the full-scale invasion of Ukraine are now over 175,000.
