The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) have arrested another alleged Russian agent operating from the capital. The following statement comes from their official website:

According to the investigation, the russian informant detained this time is a 41-year-old resident of Kyiv. He received assignments from a russian citizen who is now in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as a military correspondent for a russian federal TV channel (First Channel).

Since April 2022, the agent has been regularly passing to her information for the reconnaissance units of russian occupation forces. For secrecy, the spy used different mobile phone numbers and send texts only in messenger apps. To identify each other in the network, the ‘subscribers’ used passwords.

During the search, a mobile phone and computer equipment with evidence of unlawful activity were seized from the suspect.

The agent was detained in Kyiv and has been notified of suspicion of crime under Article 114-2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information about sending, transfer of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other formations, committed under martial law or in a state of emergency).

The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
