The Ukrainian state oil and gas operator said Friday that Russian forces had struck its facilities overnight, despite Kremlin claims to have halted strikes on energy sites in Ukraine.
“The enemy shelled Naftogaz Group’s facilities. This is the eighteenth combined attack on the Group’s infrastructure since the start of the full-scale war and the eighth since the beginning of this year,” the group said in a statement.

Naftogaz said there were no casualties but that “gas production facilities were damaged” in the overnight Russian attacks, without specifying where the hit sites were located.
Authorities in several southern regions of Ukraine had said facilities were damaged by a barrage of more than 100 drones overnight.
Naftogaz said the attacks were “amounted to an attempt to undermine the country’s energy stability,” and that its engineers were working to restore facilities.
Russia has rejected a joint US-Ukrainian proposal for an unconditional and full ceasefire, but says it has agreed not to strike Ukrainian energy targets for 30 days.
The influential European Pravda news outlet based in Ukraine reported recently that some estimates suggest Ukraine has lost nearly 40 percent of its gas production capacity.
Ukrainian media has reported previous Russian strikes on Naftogaz facilities in the eastern Poltava and Kharkiv regions of the country.
