US President Donald Trump said that he was “very disappointed” with Russia’s escalating attacks on Ukraine and said that he would give Putin another two weeks before deciding how to respond.

These comments came on Wednesday as the US President responded to questions from the White House Press Corps at a ceremony for the swearing-in of Jeanine Pirro as US Attorney for Washington, DC.

A reporter asked, “Do you believe the Russians are being disrespectful when they say that your criticisms of Putin are simply an emotional response, and do you still believe that Putin actually wants to end the war?”

“I can’t tell you that, but I’ll let you know in about two weeks, within two weeks,” Trump told reporters. “We’re going to find out very soon. We’re gonna find out whether or not he’s tapping us along or not. And if he is, we’ll respond a little bit differently.”

Trump has historically been very cautious about criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin, but has signalled increasing impatience with Moscow over the lack of progress towards negotiations with Ukraine, “What Vladimir Putin doesn’t realize is that if it weren’t for me, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.

Putin Boosts Russian Military Staffing Amid Staggering Losses and Drone Threat

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new decree increasing the authorized personnel size of the Russian Armed Forces by nearly 10,000 individuals. Marked as the second staffing expansion in just four months, the decree raises Russia’s total military strength to nearly 2.4 million people, including 1.5 million active servicemen.

“But it’ll take about a week and a half, two weeks,” Trump added that Presidential Envoy to Russia Steve Witkoff is dealing with the Russians, and that, “They seem to want to do something, but until the document is signed, I can’t tell you. Nobody can.”

In response to the escalating attacks on Ukraine last weekend, Trump expressed disappointment with Russia.

“I can say this, I could say this that I’m very disappointed at what happened a couple of nights ago, where people were killed in the middle of what you would call a negotiation,” Trump added. “I’m disappointed by that. Very, very disappointed.”
