Russia launched a large-scale air assault on Ukraine from the evening of May 29 to the morning of May 30, firing 90 drones and two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

“The enemy attacked with 90 Shahed strike UAVs and various types of simulator drones,” the Air Force reported on Telegram.

Еhe ballistic missiles were launched from Russia’s Voronezh Oblast.

The main targets were in the Kharkiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions. Ukrainian air defenses - including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups - intercepted 56 drones: 26 shot down by fire and 30 neutralized by electronic warfare. Nonetheless, hits were recorded in 12 locations.

Kharkiv: trolleybus depot and residential area damage

On the evening of May 29, Russian forces launched a double missile strike on the outskirts of Kharkiv. According to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the attack struck a civilian enterprise in the Chuhuiv district.

The missiles, believed to be Kh-35s, damaged buildings and vehicles. A pre-trial investigation has been launched for a suspected war crime.

“After 11:00 p.m., the Russian army launched suicide drones across Ukraine, followed later by the threat of ballistic missile strikes.

Several explosions were reported in Kharkiv between 3:10 and 3:30 a.m. on May 30.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said eight Shahed drones struck a municipal trolleybus depot in the Slobidskyi district, where trolleys were undergoing repairs.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces deployed approximately 2,200 attack drones, over 1,800 guided aerial bombs, and 87 missiles against Ukraine over the past week.

“More than thirty apartment buildings were affected, and two people required medical assistance,” he wrote on Telegram.

One injured person was a utility company employee on-site during the strike.

Terekhov revealed that most transport vehicles had been dispersed beforehand, avoiding greater losses. Still, one trolleybus was destroyed and 18 others damaged.

“Despite this, the city transport system continues to operate. Residents continue to use free public transit. I thank all partners providing Kharkiv with new buses and trolleybuses,” he added.

Separately, the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that strike drones also hit the village of Vasyliv Khutir early on May 30, injuring eight people, including two 16-year-old children.

Odesa: Nova Poshta branch destroyed

In Odesa, drones hit a Nova Poshta logistics branch, causing a major fire and damaging nearby trucks. The State Emergency Service (DSNS) said the blaze covered 300 square meters but was extinguished without casualties, thanks to the joint efforts of rescuers and the National Guard.
