The president specifically addressed the casualties resulting from the bombardments on Saturday, June 20. According to Zelensky, guided aerial bomb strikes in Zaporizhzhia resulted in five fatalities and 26 injuries. In the Poltava region, attacks caused two deaths and injured 12 people, including six children.
Local authorities and emergency services provided further context on the Saturday strikes. In Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces launched nine guided aerial bombs targeting civilian infrastructure. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) initially reported 12 injuries and confirmed the recovery of a deceased woman from a collapsed private residence, bringing the local death toll to five.
Local media indicated that traffic across the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station (DniproHES) dam was temporarily suspended following the strikes.

In northeastern Ukraine, the Sumy City Military Administration reported that seven guided aerial bombs struck the northwestern section of the city. The attack resulted in one fatality and five injuries, and damaged at least 20 private residences, school grounds, and other infrastructure facilities.
In the Poltava community, evening strikes caused fires at industrial enterprises across several locations. The State Emergency Service reported deploying over 100 rescue personnel and 27 pieces of equipment to extinguish the fires. While Zelensky cited 12 injuries in Poltava, earlier DSNS reports indicated 14 individuals were injured, alongside the two confirmed fatalities.
Following the summary of the attacks, Zelensky addressed Ukraine’s international partners, stating that recent diplomatic engagements – including the G7 summit, the European Council meetings, and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) sessions—yielded productive results and new contributions for Ukraine’s defense.
He stressed that the immediate priority is the rapid implementation of these agreements. “It is important to quickly implement everything, first of all, the supply of air defense missiles, so that the new contributions provide real protection of lives from constant Russian strikes,” Zelensky stated.
