Russian Drone Attack Injures Eight, Sparks Fires Across Kharkiv Region

A Russian drone attack overnight on the Kharkiv region damaged civilian infrastructure and sparked multiple fires across several towns, local officials said Monday, June 30. At least eight people, including a child, were injured.

The attack is part of a pattern of frequent Russian strikes on the northeastern region, which borders Russia and has been a regular target of missile and drone attacks for months.

According to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Administration, drones hit three different locations.

In the town of Pisochyn, west of Kharkiv city, a drone strike damaged a service station and ignited a large fire. Emergency services later reported that eight people were injured there, including a child.

In Dergachi, to the northwest of Kharkiv, two fires broke out after drones hit a warehouse of a private enterprise and an agricultural facility. The fires destroyed roughly 1,200 square meters of buildings, officials said.

Another fire erupted in the village of Kurortne after a drone damaged a sanatorium dining hall, which burned down over 300 square meters.

The Kharkiv region, Ukraine’s second most populated area, has faced near-daily Russian attacks in recent weeks, as Moscow continues to target civilian and energy infrastructure amid its broader offensive in the northeast.

Authorities said firefighting efforts continued through the night. No fatalities have been reported.
