[UPDATED: July 1, 9:42 am , Kyiv time. Updated with the Ukrainian Air Force report]

Russian forces launched a drone attack on Zaporizhzhia early Tuesday morning, July 1, damaging homes and a local industrial facility, and sparking a fire in the city, officials reported.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (OVA), said that Russia carried out four strikes on the city and its surrounding district.

“An enterprise was damaged. A fire broke out there. Private homes were also damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” he said on Telegram.

Before the attack, the Ukrainian Air Force had issued warnings about potential drone and ballistic threats in the region. However, no missile launches were recorded.

Later in the morning, Fedorov confirmed that four Shahed drones struck an industrial site and a residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. While no injuries were reported, the impact left 1,603 subscribers without power.

The damage included six apartment buildings, over 20 private homes, vehicles, and private businesses.

“Emergency services and utility workers are on site. Our task is to restore roofs and windows quickly so people can return to their homes tonight,” Fedorov added.

The Ukrainian Air Force later reported that between 9:00 p.m. on June 30 and the morning of July 1, Russian forces launched an attack using 52 Shahed-type combat drones and various simulator UAVs from multiple directions.

Zelensky Confirms Deep Strikes on Russian ‘Temp’ Fuel Reserve and ‘Azot’ Chemical Plant

Ukrainian long-range drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine struck the “Temp” state fuel reserve in the Yaroslavl region – over 700 kilometers from the border – and the “Azot” chemical plant in the Tula region. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the operations, labeling them effective “long-range sanctions.” The strikes ignited large-scale fires at both facilities, degrading Russia’s supply of military fuel and explosives precursors.

“As of 9:00 a.m., air defense units neutralized 47 enemy Shahed drones and other UAVs in the northern and eastern regions,” the statement said. “Fourteen were shot down by direct fire, while 33 were suppressed or lost due to electronic warfare.”

Despite the high interception rate, confirmed drone strikes occurred in three locations, with debris falling in a fourth.

Meanwhile, on the evening of June 30, explosions were heard in Russian-occupied Donetsk. Local Telegram channels reported air defense activity and a possible strike on the headquarters of Russia’s 8th Combined Arms Army.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, commented on Telegram: “Jewelry work on Russians in temporarily occupied Donetsk. It’s very greasy there.”
