Ukraine’s Defense Ministry said Wednesday it has received no official notice about stopping or delaying US military aid shipments and is working to clarify the situation after reports of paused deliveries.

“The Ukrainian side has taken note of reports about delays in supplying certain parts of the previously allocated US defense aid packages and is verifying the actual circumstances of these shipments,” the ministry said in a statement.

This comes as the White House confirmed on Tuesday it was pausing key weapons deliveries to Ukraine – shipments previously approved by the Trump administration.

“This decision was made to put America’s national security first, following a Defense Department review of global military assistance,” said White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly. “The strength of the US military remains unquestioned – just ask Iran.”

Ukraine is checking details of each element of the aid and has requested a phone conversation with US counterparts for further clarification.

The ministry emphasized that some public comments within Ukraine do not have access to full information and urged people to rely on official sources.

“It is critically important for Ukraine to maintain stability, continuity, and predictability in the delivery of agreed defense assistance – especially in strengthening air defense systems,” the statement added.

Russia Strikes Kyiv With Drones and Ballistic Missiles Hours After Zelensky Warning

Fires broke out in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district as officials warned of a multi-wave Russian attack on the capital.

“The path to ending the war lies in consistent joint pressure on the aggressor and sustained support for Ukraine.”

The statement came shortly after Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry summoned John Ginkel, deputy chief of the US Embassy in Kyiv, to stress the “critical importance” of American military supplies amid concerns over a White House announcement pausing some weapons shipments.

The Ukrainian side stressed that any delay or hesitation in supporting Ukraine’s defense will only encourage the aggressor to continue the war,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Kremlin welcomed the move, saying fewer weapons for Ukraine could hasten an end to the conflict.

“The fewer weapons that are delivered to Ukraine, the sooner the special military operation will end,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, using Russia’s term for its more-than-three-year invasion.

The aid freeze comes at a critical time for Ukraine, which faces heavy Russian attacks and is losing ground on parts of the front line.

“We are clarifying the situation. I think that everything will be clarified in the coming days,” presidential aide Dmytro Lytvyn was reported as saying by AFP.

US media reported that Patriot air defense systems and artillery are among the shipments being held, weapons Ukraine says it urgently needs.
