Russia has renewed its attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure, said Serhiy Koretsky, CEO of Ukraine’s gas conglomerate Naftogaz, in a Tuesday update.
Naftogaz’s last report of a Russian attack on its facilities was dated March 28, just days after Kyiv and Moscow proclaimed an energy ceasefire without a mutual agreement following US mediation efforts.

On Tuesday, Koretskyi said Russia launched “dozens” of drones on gas production facilities and caused “destruction” overnight. The statement is scarce on details.
“Such attacks occur regularly. These objects have no military significance. This is exclusively an act of terrorism, with which the enemy seeks to intimidate Ukrainians and break our will,” Koretskyi wrote in his Facebook post that is duplicated on Naftogaz’s website.
Koretskyi said Moscow’s goal is to deprive Ukrainians of heating in the upcoming winter.
“The terrorists’ goal is obvious – to weaken Ukraine, disrupt preparations for winter, and create problems with gas supplies for Ukrainians during the cold season,” he added.
As of April, Russian strikes on Ukrainian gas infrastructure have allegedly deprived Ukraine of 50% of its domestic production, meaning the country will need to import more gas for the heating season from Europe.
On April 16, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi told reporters that Russian forces have carried out more than 30 strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure despite the declared energy ceasefire in effect since March 25, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

Since then, Ukraine has restored half of its production capacity, also borrowing €270 million ($307 million) from the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance emergency gas purchases for the next two heating seasons.
Naftogaz also secured 140 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US to be transported by the Polish company ORLEN, according to Naftogaz’s July 2 press release.
This marks the fourth gas supply contract signed between Naftogaz and ORLEN in 2025. With the fourth gas shipment, Naftogaz has now contracted a total of 440 million cubic meters (mcm) of LNG from the Polish company for the upcoming heating season.
