The first week of the war between the United States and Israel versus Iran has cost Washington about $11.3 billion, according to a Pentagon estimate provided to members of Congress, the Associated Press reported on Thursday, March 12.

The estimate was shared with lawmakers during a congressional briefing earlier this week, according to a person familiar with the meeting who spoke on condition of anonymity because it was held behind closed doors.

According to the Pentagon, the United States spent roughly $5 billion on munitions alone during the first weekend of the conflict.

The administration of US President Donald Trump had previously indicated it might ask Congress for additional funding to support the military campaign, but those plans appear to have slowed for now.

Senator Roger Wicker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Wednesday that he does not expect a supplemental funding request from the White House this month.
