Zelensky Says Russia Talks May Resume, but Format Remains Undecided

President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expects peace talks with Russia to resume, though the format of the discussions remains undecided.

“I think the rounds of negotiations with the Russian side will resume. The question is in what format,” Zelensky  wrote on X following a joint press interaction with Honduras President Nasry Asfura.

The Ukrainian leader said European partners favor a joint diplomatic track with the US, while also supporting the format proposed by Kyiv.

“Europeans are in favor of it being a joint track with the Americans. And everyone also supports the track we have proposed,” he said.

Zelensky said he remains open to a bilateral meeting with Moscow, but emphasized that Ukraine’s partners should be present because Kyiv is counting on them for key parts of any postwar settlement.

“I believe in a bilateral meeting. But it’s important that partners are present. Because there are many things Ukraine is counting on. Security guarantees after the end of the war. Membership in the European Union,” Zelensky added.

“We are giving the Russians the option to choose the format,” Zelensky concluded.
