The Ukrainian Naval Forces announced on Saturday, June 27, that they have destroyed a Russian vessel in the Black Sea that was attempting to deliver supplies to Russian troops stationed on the Tendra Spit.

The military released visual confirmation of the strike, which showed the vessel catching fire and exploding. The Tendra Spit, administratively part of the Skadovsk district in the Kherson region, has been occupied by Russian forces since February 2022.

The interception of the supply boat is part of a wider Ukrainian strategy targeting Russian logistics across southern Ukraine and the Black Sea coast. The incident follows recent territorial shifts in the region, most notably on the nearby Kinburn Spit.

Earlier in the week, Ukraine’s Southern Territorial Defense Forces Command reported that Ukrainian troops had raised the national flag on the Kinburn Spit following a withdrawal by Russian forces. The command stated that sustained Ukrainian strikes had compelled the Russian contingent to abandon their defensive positions and evacuate the peninsula.

The Kinburn Spit, situated between the Dnipro-Buh estuary and the Black Sea, holds strategic value for controlling maritime access to the ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson. Military analysts have noted that securing the area strengthens Ukraine’s coastal defense and its operational posture in the Black Sea.

These localized operations correspond with a broader effort by Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) to systematically degrade Russian supply lines. USF commander Robert Brovdi previously detailed the implementation of a “middle strike” campaign.

Russian Drone Barrage Targets Sumy Region, 10 Injured

Russian forces launched a concentrated drone attack on the Okhtyrka district of the Sumy region late Friday night.

This initiative utilizes short and mid-range unmanned systems to strike vehicles, depots, and transport infrastructure, aiming to restrict the flow of military materials to frontline troops and into the occupied Crimean Peninsula.

Indications of logistical strain have been reported among Russian units in the area. In early June, the Ukrainian partisan group Atesh indicated that elements of Russia’s 337th Regiment had begun leaving certain positions due to interrupted deliveries of ammunition, fuel, and rations.
