A Russian missile strike on the town of Izyum in Kharkiv region killed one civilian and wounded three others on Sunday, July 5, amid a continuous wave of aerial bombardments targeting civilian and commercial infrastructure across Ukraine.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that the missile strike targeted a commercial area in Izyum, completely destroying a local gas station.

“One man was killed in the attack. Three women – aged 48, 42, and 39 – sustained injuries and have been hospitalized,” Syniehubov reported on Telegram.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), the missile strike ignited a major fire that engulfed the station’s operator room, the main gas-refueling infrastructure, and five nearby vehicles. Operative firefighting units and municipal rescue personnel contained the blaze.
Drone strikes in Zaporizhzhia
In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, a separate Russian drone assault on Sunday wounded three civilians. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, stated that the loitering munitions targeted civilian facilities.
“Russian drones attacked civilian infrastructure, damaging a retail store and the premises of a local enterprise. Three men sustained injuries and are receiving all necessary medical assistance,” Fedorov announced.
The strikes on Izyum and Zaporizhzhia follow a deadly sequence of drone attacks earlier on Sunday in other parts of the Kharkiv region. A UAV strike on the town of Bohodukhiv, northwest of Kharkiv city, killed two men and left a 26-year-old woman suffering from acute stress.

The blast damaged a local supermarket and a furniture store. Additionally, a drone strike in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv city wounded at least five people.
Weekend of nationwide aerial bombardments
The casualties on Sunday add to a broader pattern of heavy Russian aerial operations over the weekend using guided aerial bombs and uncrewed systems.
On Saturday afternoon, a Russian FAB-250 guided bomb equipped with a unified gliding and correction module (UMPK) struck a crowded supermarket in the center of Kramatorsk. The attack wounded five civilians, including an 11-year-old boy, and triggered a massive 1,300-square-meter fire.
A five-missile salvo hit a residential district in Zaporizhzhia on Saturday evening, collapsing an exterior wall of a multi-story apartment building from the first to the fifth floor, injuring three people.
In Sumy, Russian troops targeted a fuel station on Saturday night, sparking a highly volatile fire that wounded three women aged 20, 47, and 55.
Emergency response teams across the country remain on high alert as regional administrations monitor local infrastructure for secondary strikes.
