July 7 – a Day of Mourning

The crew’s farewell coincides with another bleak milestone, as Kyiv marks the same day in remembrance of victims from a separate, massive Russian attack on the capital which began at 6 p.m. Sunday and involved 419 aerial targets in total.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that Tuesday would be observed as a Day of Mourning for the victims.

The barrage included 23 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, six Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles, 33 Kh-101 and six Kalibr cruise missiles, along with 351 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and decoy drones.

Ukrainian air defenses, backed by fighter jets, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups, managed to destroy or suppress 363 targets overall, including 37 cruise missiles and 326 drones. The strike killed at least 22 people and injured nearly 90 others, including three children, according to the latest official figures. Twenty-seven of the injured were hospitalized.
