Fedorenko takes charge over Ukraine’s largest state energy firm in the middle of preparations for the heating season and amid sustained Russian attacks on the country’s gas infrastructure. According to the company, his key tasks will be maintaining the pace of those preparations, ensuring sufficient gas reserves in storage, and repairing oil and gas facilities damaged by Russian attacks, the company said.
He is also expected to continue strategic agreements Naftogaz signed with international partners over the past year, covering supply diversification and financing for recovery equipment, according to the company.
Under Koretskyi, Naftogaz kept Ukraine’s energy system running through the full-scale war, restored damaged infrastructure, diversified gas supplies and expanded ties with international partners, the company said.
Fedorenko has more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Before joining Naftogaz in July 2025, he served as commercial director of Ukrnafta, where he was responsible for the purchase and sale of oil products, supply logistics, gas and electricity trading, management and development of the company’s filling station network, and B2B fuel sales to corporate clients, according to energy consultancy ExPro.

After Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Fedorenko volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in 2022-2023, according to ExPro.
Fedorenko holds a master’s degree in political science from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and an MBA from the Kyiv School of Economics.
