French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an immediate end to hostilities in Ukraine. He stressed that Russia’s ongoing missile, aerial bomb and drone campaign mocks and undermines all calls for peace talks. Macron spoke in response to Russia’s strike on Kryvyi Rih, President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown, on April 4, which killed 20 people, including nine children.

Macron informed his followers that during the night of April 6 Russia had once again launched massive air attacks on Ukrainian cities.

“On this national day of mourning in Ukraine, my thoughts are with the children and all the innocent victims of these deadly strikes, such as in Kryvyi Rih,” Macron wrote on social media platform X.

He highlighted the fact that Ukraine had fully and unconditionally supported US President Donald Trump’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire. Despite this, Russia was continuing its conduct of the war with the same intensity, showing no concern for mounting civilian casualties.

According to Macron, France, together with international partners, is working toward achieving peace – but “Russia, instead, is only escalating its aggression.”

“These Russian strikes must stop. A ceasefire must be reached as soon as possible. If Russia continues to stall and refuse peace, we need strong action,” the French leader said.

“How much longer will Russia toy with peace initiatives from the US and Ukraine while continuing to kill children and civilians?” Macron asked.

Polish Far-Right Calls for Block of Ukraine’s EU Bid Over ‘Heroes of the UPA’ Unit

Polish far-right leader Krzysztof Bosak said Poland should block Ukraine’s EU membership bid in response to Kyiv’s decision to grant an elite military unit the honorary title “Heroes of the UPA.” The comments mark the latest escalation in a growing dispute over the legacy of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, which – eight decades later – remains one of the most sensitive issues in Polish-Ukrainian relations.

According to the latest reports, the April 4 missile strike on Kryvyi Rih killed 20 people - including nine children - and injured 74 others.

On April 6, a number of Western embassies in Ukraine lowered their flags in memory of the Kryvyi Rih victims while on the same night Russian launched a multiple missile strike on Kyiv which killed one man and injured three others.
