In one of the screenshots attached to the post, a Russian user who made a fake Ukrainian account can be seen complaining about losing access to items he/she purchased.
“In April, I made myself a new Ukrainian account, a new one, on my email, replenished a couple of times through the channel with Avito to the wallet of the PS store, did not have time to take a subscription, saved money on the wallet, and on May 16 it was banned together with the console,” the user wrote, referring to a Russian marketplace called Avito.
The Japanese video game giant took measures to suspend the physical or online sale of video games in Russia in March 2022 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Russian users are banned from using PlayStation accounts in the Russian Federation, where they often register accounts in other countries to get around the ban.
In January, the European Union proposed banning the sale of video game controllers and accessories to Russia, with foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas claiming at the time that console controllers were being used by the Russian armed forces to operate drones in Ukraine.
