The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) has released a new intercepted call featuring a fatally wounded Russian soldier on the battlefield. In the recording, published by HUR, the Russian serviceman, unable to provide himself with basic first aid, essentially delivers a deathbed confession.

“Birds are flying, so many of them. I’m losing blood, my head is spinning. I laid down, I’m lying under a tree,” he tells the person on the other end of the line.

When urged to stop the bleeding, the soldier replies: “My calf is torn off — you can’t stop it like that. Using a tourniquet only makes it worse.” He is then advised: “Give yourself aid, I’m telling you again — stop the bleeding. Try to stay in touch. Most importantly, wait for instructions.”

According to HUR, the wounded soldier ignored basic self-aid protocols, which ultimately led to his death. The agency also notes that the conversation reflects a romanticization of death — an illusion of heroism sharply contrasted by the soldier’s helplessness.

HUR does not specify what happened next or provide further details but reminds: “Every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people will be justly punished.”

Lavrov Demands Russian Language Rights as Core Condition for Peace

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the full restoration of rights to Russian-speaking populations in Ukraine remains a non-negotiable condition for any long-term settlement of the war. Speaking on Saturday during a video address marking Russian Language Day, Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s long-standing accusations of systematic language discrimination and “Russophobia” by Kyiv – claims that served as primary justifications for the 2022 full-scale invasion.

Russia regularly dismisses the content of intercepted calls published by Ukraine, saying they are fake, a claim Kyiv Post put to Maria. She said: “They are all are real even though they might seem insane. Sometimes I can’t believe the words I’m hearing myself, but we have what we have.”
