Russian forces launched hundreds of individual attacks on the Zaporizhzhia region overnight, killing a woman and injuring another, local officials said Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Governor Ivan Fedorov said a 62-year-old woman was killed in Vasylivka district when an FPV drone hit the town of Prymorske. In Zaporizhzhia city, a 66-year-old woman was wounded and is receiving treatment.

According to regional authorities, Russia carried out 474 individual attacks on 14 settlements in the past 24 hours. The attacks included seven airstrikes on Veselyanka, Hulyaipole, Novodanilivka and Krasne, as well as 336 drones, mostly FPVs, hitting multiple towns and villages. Rocket and artillery fire caused further damage across the region.

Officials said at least 17 homes and buildings were damaged.

The attacks came a day after Russia struck a thermal power facility in the Kyiv region on Monday, damaging nearby shopping and fitness centers but causing no casualties, according to emergency services, with some areas of Kyiv and the surrounding suburbs and settlements subjected to electrical power outages.

The death toll from Russia’s Sept. 7 strike on Kyiv has also risen to four, including a 2-month-old boy. His mother was killed in the same attack, while his father was seriously injured.

For the first time since the start of the full-scale war, Russia also struck the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said the destruction will be repaired, but stressed that “lives cannot be restored.”
