Russian drones attacked Kyiv overnight on Friday, Sept. 19, damaging the city’s trolleybus network, local officials said.
In recent days, Russian forces have shifted tactics. Instead of massive weekly strikes involving hundreds of drones – sometimes close to 1,000 in a single night – they have begun launching smaller groups of 15-20 drones at the Kyiv region, with several targeting the capital itself.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said debris from downed drones fell in several places, including on a road in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
“The trolleybus network was damaged,” he said. No injuries were reported.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said one drone crashed and exploded in the Solomianskyi district.
The city administration warned of possible problems with card payments and ticket validation on the high-speed tram and funicular.
The attack also disrupted the telecom provider that serves Kyiv’s public transport company, leaving its official website temporarily offline. Passengers were advised to validate their tickets directly in tram cars.
The latest attack came after several nights of strikes. On Sept. 17-18, drones set fires in the Kyiv region, with damage reported in Boryspil and Bucha districts. Later that evening, the region was attacked again, leaving one man injured in the Boryspil district.
