Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has accused the United Kingdom of involvement in Ukraine’s “Spiderweb” operation and blamed NATO intelligence for recent drone incidents over Europe.
FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov made the claims during a meeting of security chiefs from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, the Russian state-run TASS agency reported.

He claimed that the “Spiderweb” operation, carried out by Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) on June 1, was conducted “under the direct supervision of British intelligence” just before talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul.
The high-risk mission used AI-enhanced drones to strike deep inside Russia, hitting four military airfields and destroying or damaging over 40 aircraft, according to Western intelligence. Ukrainian officials estimate the damage at $2-7 billion.
Launched from cargo trucks hidden in plain sight, the drones marked one of the most damaging strikes on the Russian Air Force since the full-scale invasion.
According to Bortnikov, London later fueled media reports claiming “massive damage” and that the operation was solely Ukrainian.
Bortnikov also claimed that the UK, along with its “party of war,” is stirring fear of a “threat from the East.”
He linked recent drone incidents over EU countries – strongly believed to be of Russian origin – to NATO intelligence, claiming that “professionals have no doubt” about their involvement.

Bortnikov also alleged that British intelligence plans to use “combat divers” to target Russian critical infrastructure.
He said that Ukrainian special services are coordinating with the UK to carry out sabotage using drones, unmanned boats, and combat divers.
