The Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR), a Russian-national unit operating under Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR), is reported to have destroyed a Russian field ammunition depot in the Kharkiv region in December 2025.

According to a HUR report on Telegram, the reconnaissance and sabotage group operated deep behind Russian lines, advancing more than 7 km (4.3 miles) into Russian positions to locate and destroy the depot along with its guards.

“We completed the task without losses and blew up the enemy’s supply as effectively as possible,” HUR said.

The report includes a video showing footage from the operation, though Kyiv Post could not independently verify the time or location of the filming.

The destroyed depot had supported the supply and rotation of Russian units in the Kupyansk sector, and its destruction undermines the tactical stability of Kremlin forces, HUR said.

Earlier, units from the legion disrupted a logistics route in the Zaporizhzhia sector that supplied metal for military infrastructure in occupied Crimea.

Special forces also eliminated personnel at a drone control point in the Pokrovsk sector, eliminating operators and control elements used for reconnaissance and fire coordination.

“Our priority is to disorganize the enemy’s command and logistics even before the front line,” the legion added.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in a joint operation with the Special Operations Forces (SSO) and the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), carried out a drone strike against the “Tamanneftegas” terminal in Krasnodar Krai. Acting on operational objectives set by Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian long-range drones struck five petroleum storage tanks, two marine loading arms, and adjacent logistics infrastructure.

The LSR has been operating behind Russian lines since late 2022, carrying out targeted sabotage and strikes on logistics, transport routes, and command facilities.

In July 2025, special forces from HUR, operating as part of the legion, carried out an ambush against fighters from Chechnya’s Akhmat unit near the village of Velyka Bilozerka in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The unit, largely made up of Chechen security forces, is part of Russia’s National Guard but is directly subordinate to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

According to HUR, the LSR unit advanced more than 30 km (18.6 miles) into Russian-occupied territory, where it eliminated three members of the Russian National Guard before safely withdrawing without casualties.

HUR said the operation involved the detonation of a vehicle, which resulted in the deaths of the three Akhmat fighters. During the raid, Ukrainian intelligence also collected information on Russian logistics, military equipment, and command posts.
