Laura Loomer, an ally of US President Donald Trump and a far-right political activist, said she visited Ukraine and apologized for her previous pro-Kremlin rhetoric.
In her X update on Monday, Loomer said she had been “propagandized by Russian media.”

“I was living in a media echo chamber and I was propagandized by Russian media on social media to believe those things,” she wrote.
“So I came to Ukraine to see the country for myself. I am going to try to find evidence for the propaganda I’ve been fed, and if I don’t find it, I will let everyone know so they too can come to see the light.”
Loomer, known for claiming that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were an inside job, has previously been a vocal critic against aid to Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In an X update dated Sept. 25, 2025, she called Zelensky a “Jihadi apologist” when he met with the new Syrian leader.
“Zelensky shaking hands with an Islamic terrorist who has murderer [sic] US soldiers is another reason to have disdain for @ZelenskyyUa,” Loomer wrote.
“I don’t want any more of my tax dollars going to Ukraine… Ukraine is a country full of Nazi apologists and now it’s clearly a country led by a Jihadi apologist,” she added. The alleged Nazism in Ukraine is a staple in Russian propaganda and is used by Moscow to justify its invasion.
In her Monday update, Loomer said she would not delete her old updates because she “realized [she] was wrong.”

“I realized Ukraine and @ZelenskyyUa aren’t the jihadi apologists… but Russia and Putin are!” she added.
Loomer’s latest updates were also mocked by Margarita Simonyan, the editor of Russia Today (RT), who pointed out that Loomer used to write columns for the Russian paper.
Loomer responded by saying she did so in 2021 but ultimately changed her mind about Russia as the country “doesn’t do anything positive for America.”
Walking back on Nazi claims
Loomer had previously amplified claims of Nazism in Ukraine.
In an update dated Sept. 6, 2023, Loomer claimed that former US President Joe Biden was “funding Nazi death squads in Ukraine with US taxpayer dollars.”
Loomer on Monday said she changed her mind by witnessing Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine, including the aftermath of the Bucha massacre, and seeing photos of tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs).
“On day one, I’ve already seen photos of dead priests in Bucha murdered by Russia and I saw the mass grave where the bodies of murdered Christians were placed after Russia sent forces from Chechnya to massacre innocent people,” she wrote.
Anti-Islam has been a central part of Loomer’s conspiracy theories.
She then added that she was shown photos of Ukrainian POWs with “swastikas engraved into their forehead by Russians.”
“I spoke with officials who rescue POWs and they showed me photos of Ukrainian POWs who had swastikas engraved into their forehead by Russians,” she wrote. “Who are the Nazis? I was lied to for years.”
Earlier departure from pro-Kremlin stance
Loomer began hitting back at pro-Kremlin rhetoric around March 2026.
US journalist JP Lindsley wrote in his blog at the time that Loomer cited research shared by Alexis Wilkins, the girlfriend of FBI Director Kash Patel, who alleged Moscow of an influence campaign.
“A foreign-linked influence network has been running coordinated operations against the Trump administration for 22 months. I know it’s real because they ran one against me,” Wilkins wrote, adding that the message was amplified by Moscow’s informational machine.
Around the same time, Loomer was also seen targeting multiple public figures in and around the Republican Party, including Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
Lindsley noted that Kent previously called Zelensky a “thug” and said Putin’s demands were “very reasonable,” with Loomer calling Kent a “very evil man” and a “conspiratorial crackpot blinded to the Islamic terror threat” at the time.
Kent resigned around the same time reports surfaced that Loomer had advised Trump to dismiss National Security Council staff, a claim denied by Trump.
