The Russian army attacked the Odesa region early Saturday morning, May 24, striking port infrastructure with combat drones.

According to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the strike targeted port facilities and is currently being investigated as a war crime.

Prosecutors, in cooperation with investigators, are documenting the damage and gathering evidence under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This marks the second Russian attack on the Odesa port in 24 hours. On the afternoon of May 23, Russia launched a missile strike using two ballistic missiles, killing a port employee and injuring eight others, four of them seriously. Later, a 71-year-old man was reported succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Friday.

On Saturday, authorities reported that a 41-year-old man also died from wounds sustained in the strike, so the death toll has since risen to three.

Russian forces launched multiple drone strikes across Ukraine early Friday, May 23, targeting several regions, including Odesa. Strike drones hit the suburbs of the city, damaging a private house. Two people were reported injured.

Explosions were also reported in Odesa city during the drone attack, with social media users noting active air defense in the area.
