President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that Ukraine-US talks held earlier in the day about Ukraine’s postwar economic recovery had been productive.

Earlier, Zelensky said that talks were scheduled with the US to discuss a document drafted by the Ukrainian side as part of their proposed revisions of a US-drafted plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Writing on Telegram on Wednesday evening, Zelensky said: “We had a productive conversation with the American side – Scott Bessent, Jared Kushner and Larry Fink. In fact, this was the first meeting of the group that will work on a document on the reconstruction and economic recovery of Ukraine.”

Bessent is US President Donald Trump’s treasury secretary, while Fink is the billionaire CEO of US investment management company BlackRock

Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, took on the role of one of the US president’s emissaries to Moscow earlier this month. Kushner and Trump envoy Steve Witkoff personally presented an earlier draft of Trump’s peace plan to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Dec. 1.

Zelensky said that he and his team had discussed “various mechanisms and visions of reconstruction” with the American side on Wednesday – adding that “the Ukrainian view… on the 20 basic points of the fundamental document for ending the war” had already been prepared.

G7 Summit to Address ‘Five-Point’ Peace Plan as Trump and Zelensky Join European Leaders

As the G7 summit convenes in Evian-les-Bains, France, a potential diplomatic resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war will take center stage. According to German government sources, US President Donald Trump will review a “five-point” peace framework formulated by the E3 (Britain, France, Germany) and Ukraine during recent talks in London. With Ukraine reportedly operating from a position of strength, European leaders are advocating for a quadripartite negotiation format: Ukraine, Russia, the US, and Europe.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, the president confirmed that Ukraine’s peace proposals take the form of three documents – one being a 20-point general framework for peace, another concerned with security guarantees, and the last of which is concerned with Ukraine’s postwar economic recovery.

“As always, there will be no delays on our part,” Zelensky signed off his message. “We are working for the result. Thank you to President Trump and his team for the meaningful work and support.”

During his evening address to the nation shortly afterwards, Zelensky confirmed his attendance at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing scheduled for Thursday – or, in his words, the group of “more than 30 states that work together with Ukraine for security on land, in the sky, and at sea.”

Bilateral meetings between Ukraine and the European countries are planned for next week, Zelensky said.
