Ukrainian Forces Regain Nearly 50 Square Kilometers in March

Ukrainian forces regained control of nearly 50 square kilometers of territory in March, Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky said.

In a statement published on Facebook on Wednesday, Syrskyi said Ukrainian troops carried out a series of counteroffensive actions along several sections of the front, allowing them to retake previously occupied positions despite continued pressure from Russian forces.

“We counter Russian numbers with Ukrainian quality in conducting warfare, forcing the enemy to play by our rules and constantly postponing the deadlines for accomplishing their objectives,” Syrsky said.

He also highlighted a shift in modern drone warfare, saying Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces have effectively used underground routes to move troops and military equipment.

Russian personnel losses increased by 29%, largely due to strikes carried out by Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, which damaged 76 Russian targets, including 15 oil‑refining facilities, Ukrinform reported.

In February, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces had liberated about 300 square kilometers of occupied territory, as Russian efforts to break through Ukrainian defenses had failed despite the deployment of substantial reserves.

The territorial gains come amid continued heavy fighting along parts of the eastern and southern fronts, where the most intense fighting took place in the Oleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman directions.
