In October Kazakhstan offered 117 old Soviet-era combat aircraft for sale by auction and it has now been reported that the US has bought 81 of them through offshore intermediaries.

As when Ukraine discovered huge new oil and gas reserves in the Donbas, that would be able to compete with Russia for Europe's energy business, Israel has huge gas reserves offshore that have been promised to Europe for this coming winter. Russia is trying to protect their monopoly on energy for Europe. This is, has been, and always will be about money. Russia will kill anyone who tries to stop the flow of energy money into Russia.

The Russians already have the Crimean offshore energy fields. There is a trillion dollars’ worth of unexploited rare earths, and other metals and minerals, in the Donbas, and if Russia holds what it’s taken, it will have a stranglehold on all Ukraine’s ports except Odesa. All that will boost Putin’s war chest very substantially.
