A devastating Ukrainian attack on Moscow’s Black Sea Fleet has caused panic among many Russians on social media, with some even calling for an end to Putin’s “special military operation.”

In what Kyiv described as a “very good result,” a missile strike on the S. Ordzhonikidze ship repair plant severely damaged a submarine and landing ship in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

As the Kremlin battles with the repercussions of both the strike and the recent liberation of the Boyko Towers gas and oil production platforms, Russian citizens are going into a bit of a spin.

Commenting on Russian news articles, one person criticised the business as usual atmosphere in Russia, writing: “For how long are we going to ignore these big things?”

To which someone replied: “Until the end. Only no one knows whose [Russia’s or Ukraine’s] end will be bigger.”

Another person even went so far as to suggest Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine should be called off, writing: “As a result of the attack on Sevastopol, 24 people were injured.

“I don’t know what to think... Maybe it’s time to stop this special operation?”

They were swiftly rebuked by another commentator, who replied: “Do you think the terrorist attacks will stop?!

“Nooo. That’s where the zombified fascists are, they should be wiped clean!”

Who Is Andrey Belousov, Russia’s New Defense Minister?

Russia’s defense ministry is now under the command of a career bureaucrat and economist with no military background – but for Putin, he might be the right man for the job.

Looking forward, one person suggested even worse things were in store for Russia if Ukraine receives more advanced weaponry from its western allies.

“And if they get these F-16 or 17, then what will happen? There will be a great shame,” they wrote.

Elsewhere, there was a huge degree of cynicism on show.

When one person asked if “the SVO (Special military operation) against the people or the regime?” another replied: “No difference. People want more spectacles, as bread every day is more expensive, and the spectacle is still free.”

While the strike on Sevastopol was an impressive attack, Ukraine has been sending kamikaze drones towards Moscow for weeks now and while these attacks have not caused the same amount of damage, they had already instilled a sense of fear among Russians.

After an attack earlier this week, one person commenting on Russian news reports wrote: “Something is wrong in our Kingdom.”

There was also frustration aimed at President Putin at the apparent lack of adequate response to such attacks.

One person wrote: “So, when will Moscow's respond to these attacks? Will everyone stand on the brakes?

“We are waiting for active actions after these terrorist attacks.”

Another wrote: “When will Russia destroy the entire [Ukrainian] government and its visitors, including Blinken and so on?”

And while Russians wait for the Kremlin to respond, Kyiv has only vowed more attacks.

A Ukrainian drone and missile attack destroyed a sophisticated Russian air defense complex in Crimea in the early hours of Thursday morning, as Kyiv warned those living on the occupied peninsula to expect more “surprises.”

Putin uses symbols to project strenth: Black Sea Fleet, Moscow financial center, his army, iconic weapons like T-90s (or s-400 systems), the ruble, etc.

You destroy his symbols, and he has nothing.

Exposing him as a fraud will wake people from his empty threats of a world war- which he uses to deter support for Ukraine.

Behind Putin's smile is a sinking feeling.
If he folds, execution is a certainty.
Has totally outsmarted himself, and shaping up as a loser either way.
His inevitable end will be in the cesspool of history.

Ukraine will bring about the fall of the dictatorship in Russia, will liberate Russia too.

Russia will also take the same path as Ukraine, towards truth and freedom.
I am talking about another Russia, one in whose history books Volodimir Zelensky will be a hero and Putin a criminal.
Putin's fear that this will happen is the real cause of the aggression. The failure of the “special operation” will accelerate the process.

Putin's mafia dictatorial regime invaded Ukraine out of fear that the freedom of the Ukrainian society (where people can express without fear of prisons, Novichok and windows) is contagious and causes the fall of the dictatorship in Russia. Is very contagious because it is a "brother" people (that is why Putin does not consider Finland's NATO membership as a threat).

All the reasons invoked by the regime are false, pretexts meant to hide the real reason for the aggression, a reason that the Russian people must in no case understand.

The goal of destroying the freedom of Ukrainian society has already failed a long time ago.
The only reason the war of aggression continues is for Putin's regime to get something that can be used for propaganda to justify unnecessary war, crimes and sacrifices, so that the dictator can stay in power. Dictators don't have pension plans.

Putin's regime no longer has any way out of the war of aggression it has unleashed, a war it cannot win but which still requires completely unnecessary crimes and sacrifices.
Russia has only one possible way out of this situation, regime change, which is at the same time the only lasting solution to the problem.
A peace treaty can only be signed with a new regime, which will condemn the war of aggression against Ukraine.

It is a war between freedom and tyranny, in which Ukraine (like Taiwan) is on the front line at the moment.

Taiwan cannot be defended in the Taiwan Strait -- but it can be defended in the Donbas. Valiant Ukraine sends a strong message to all would-be conquering tyrants: You Will Not Prevail.
