He is expected to meet Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, President Volodymyr Zelensky, and newly appointed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The visit comes shortly after air raid sirens were lifted in the capital, following a night of Russian strikes that killed at least one person.
France’s foreign ministry said Barrot will review France’s military, humanitarian, and political support for Ukraine. The visit follows the European Union’s adoption of new sanctions on Russia, including a lower price cap on Russian oil sold to non-EU countries.
Barrot also plans to visit the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. France has contributed to repairs at the site after it was reportedly struck by a Russian drone in February. The attack did not cause any radiation leaks, officials said.
