Russian Strike Damages Residential Quarter of Kyiv’s UNIT.City Innovation Park

The residential quarter of UNIT.City, Ukraine’s first innovation park, was damaged in the massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv, according to company founder Vasyl Khmelnytsky.

Tuesday’s strike shattered windows, damaged building facades, and hit infrastructure elements across the complex, the company said on its Facebook page, adding that crews had been working on site since morning to assess the damage and document losses.

The attack was part of one of the war’s largest combined assaults on the capital. Across Ukraine, at least 21 people were killed and more than 100 injured overnight, including six dead and 79 injured in Kyiv.

“All residents of the complex were safely in shelters, but residents of neighboring streets in Kyiv, who also have access to our shelters, were unable to reach them in time. Unfortunately, there are casualties and injuries. My sincere condolences to the families,” Khmelnytsky wrote on Facebook.

UNIT.City is located on Dorohozhytska Street in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, one of several areas where overnight strikes damaged residential buildings and sparked fires.

The company said it is in “continuous contact” with affected residents and will assess the damage and develop a step-by-step recovery plan. It added that it is coordinating with city services and relevant authorities and is ready to provide support for rebuilding.

“I want to thank the members of our security team – I am incredibly proud of them. In the moments immediately following the attack, they risked their lives to help evacuate people, administer first aid, and use their own first-aid kits and tourniquets to save the lives of Kyiv residents who were nearby,” Khmelnytsky added.

Opened as Ukraine’s first innovation park, UNIT.City was built to international “smart city” standards and hosts technology companies, startups, and educational programs alongside residential buildings.

The complex was founded by Khmelnytsky on the site of a former Soviet factory.

Russia has repeatedly struck civilian areas across Ukraine during its full-scale invasion.

Ukrainian prosecutors and international monitors have documented such attacks as potential war crimes, including for future proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
