The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced on Saturday, June 27, that Ukrainian forces conducted a series of strikes against strategic Russian military and industrial targets, both within Russia and in occupied Crimea.

The “Titan-Barrikady” Federal Research and Production Center, a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation Roscosmos, is a critical component of Russia’s defense industrial base. The full-cycle enterprise specializes in the design and serial production of mobile launchers and transporter-erector-launchers (TELs) for the “Iskander-M” operational-tactical missile system. The facility also manufactures launchers for the “Topol-M” and “Yars” strategic missile systems, as well as large-caliber artillery systems such as the “Msta-B” and “Msta-S” howitzers.
The enterprise has been subject to international sanctions by Australia, the EU, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the US, since the onset of the full-scale invasion.
Local Russian authorities acknowledged the attack. Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov stated that the area was targeted by “high-speed aerial targets,” confirming damage to an industrial enterprise and reporting that 10 individuals sustained injuries. The approach of the projectiles prompted air raid warnings across several Russian regions, including Penza, Samara, Orenburg, and Tatarstan.

Following the strike, Denys Shtilerman, co-founder of the Ukrainian defense tech initiative Fire Point, confirmed the deployment of FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles for the operation, publishing a video of a missile launch on social media. Open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysts subsequently geolocated footage of the impact and resulting smoke plumes to the “Titan-Barrikady” facility.
Strikes in occupied Crimea
In addition to the attack in Volgograd, the Ukrainian General Staff reported strikes on military assets in the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula.
Ukrainian defense forces targeted a Russian “Pantsir-S1” surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system located in Feodosia. Furthermore, forces struck the “Petropavlovsk” roll-on/roll-off vehicle ferry in the vicinity of Kerch. The Ukrainian military noted that the ferry was actively utilized by the Russian army to support military logistics and supply lines in the southern regions of Ukraine. The results of these strikes are currently being clarified.
The General Staff also reported the targeting of several Russian command posts, including locations near Lyman Pershyi in the Kharkiv region and Leninsky in Russia’s Belgorod region, as well as two drone command centers in Luhove and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Broader strategic campaign
The overnight strikes align with a newly intensified Ukrainian campaign directed against Russian military and logistical infrastructure.
The operations follow an announcement by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday regarding the approval of a 40-day deep-strike operation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The operation, which includes the SBU’s “Alpha” Center of Special Operations, is designed to exert pressure on Moscow through sustained medium- and long-range strikes aimed at degrading Russia’s ability to sustain its war effort and utilize occupied territories as military hubs.
