Moscow authorities claimed that the Russian capital was targeted by a multi-wave drone attack in the early hours of Saturday, with officials reporting 16 unmanned aerial vehicles (allegedly flying toward the city.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Telegram that Russian air defenses had repelled the drones, using the standard official formula that they were “shot down” while heading toward Moscow.

He did not provide details about possible damage, casualties or disruptions in the capital.

Sobyanin said only that emergency service specialists were “working at the site where debris fell,” offering no information about possible damage, casualties, debris impact locations, or disruptions to airports and transport.

The reported drone activity comes as Russia faces repeated UAV incidents deep inside its territory, including in and around Moscow.
