US Completes Eighth Night of Strikes Against Iranian Military Facilities

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of another round of strikes against Iranian military targets on the night of Saturday, July 18, marking the eighth consecutive night of US operations in the region.

The strikes, ordered by the commander in chief, occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time.

CENTCOM stated that US forces targeted Iranian coastal surveillance and air defense facilities, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites to continue degrading Iran’s military capabilities.

The operation also targeted elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that launched attacks against US service members in Jordan on July 17.

“More than 50,000 US men and women in uniform are operating across the Middle East. They remain highly vigilant, focused, lethal, and ready,” CENTCOM said in a statement.

Escalation in the Persian Gulf

The latest US strikes follow renewed military operations by Iran against US allies in the Persian Gulf.

According to Reuters, the IRGC claimed responsibility for a series of strikes in Kuwait on the night of July 18. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy confirmed that a power plant and desalination complex sustained damage, marking the second attack on domestic utility infrastructure in two days. The strikes also forced the temporary suspension of operations at Kuwait International Airport.

The IRGC stated it targeted the US military support center at Camp Arifjan and a radar installation at the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Iranian state media also reported strikes against the Isa Air Base and an intelligence center in Bahrain, though these claims have not been independently verified.

The IRGC characterized the operations as a reciprocal response to US military actions.

Senior IRGC official Mohsen Rezaee warned of further escalation if US operations continue, stating that Iran would transition to “full-scale offensive operations” and that no political borders would remain immune.

Concurrently, Iranian media reported that missiles struck energy and desalination systems in the Iranian city of Jask, leaving approximately 10,000 residents without water. Rezaee demanded financial reparations from the US for alleged strikes on civilian infrastructure, an accusation the US has denied.
