A Russian drone struck a residential area of Zaporizhzhia on the afternoon of Monday, June 8, killing two people and injuring others, according to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (OVA) head Ivan Fedorov.

In a post on Telegram, Fedorov said residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged in the attack.

Initially, five people were reported injured, but the number later rose to 15, while authorities also confirmed two fatalities.

In a later update, Fedorov said the number of wounded had increased to at least 18, including four children.

According to Fedorov, 18 people required medical assistance, including four children aged 5, 10, 12, and 13, as well as two teenagers – a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.

According to authorities, all victims were receiving medical care, and emergency medics were working at the scene, while information on the full extent of the damage was still being clarified.

Earlier, on the morning of Sunday, June 7, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Zaporizhzhia, causing power outages and leaving parts of the city without electricity.

Fedorov said Russian tactical aircraft [possibly Su-34s] carried out a strike with guided aerial bombs (KABs) on the settlement of Balabyne. The attack caused extensive damage in residential areas, scattering shattered glass, debris, and bomb fragments across area streets.
